Thirteen Reasons Why
As you know of Hannah Baker is now dead because of a select few. No one killed her but she blames her death on certain people. Some archetypes I found in this novel is Damsel in Distress. Hannah is perceived as a mess of a girl that basically died because of boys not treating her well. In almost every novel there always is that one girl that is a mess because of something boys did. In this case, Hannah is that one girl that died because of what boys did. Died. Because of being picked at about her body, harassed and put on hot or not list Hannah felt so low on herself and became the Damsel in Distress. Another archetype I found is the mentor, Tony is who I think plays the role as the mentor. He knows Clay is going through rough times and a lot of depression, sadness, and stress. He talks to Clay and listens to him and helps him get out of the negative phases and into feeling more positive. He lets Clay do whatever is needed to do without judging him or criticizing him. Tony is not only a perfect friend for Clay but a great mentor to have. Tony can also be perceived as the hero. He helps Clay get out of rough times and would do anything for Clay to be happy again. The most important thing in the world is having a friend that is always there for you whether they are the mentor or the hero it still makes a a great difference. In most books and movies there always is that one person that helps all the situations and make everything good again. Do you think authors put common archetypes in their novels for a certain reason?
